Meet The Author ~ Nancy Wilferd Rn Bsn

Caring for earthen vessels is something I have done almost all of my life.  I was born and raised in Minnesota, the second oldest of 12 children.  My parents owned a nursing home and as soon as we were old enough to work, we were expected to do our fair share of duties.  Being the second oldest, I had a great deal of responsibility not only in the nursing home but also in caring for my younger brothers and sisters.

    After graduating from high school, I went directly into a licensed practical nursing program with a lot of encouragement from my mother, who was also a nurse.  After working a few  years, I decided to further my education and career opportunities and become a registered nurse.  I received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where my husband, Erv, and I live.

    My career in nursing has taken me in several different directions with exciting  and challenging positions.  I have worked in hospitals, nursing homes, public health departments and finally in home health as a visiting nurse; the best job ever!  I also wrote a newspaper column in Salt Lake City called The Earthen Vessel which addressed many health issues.

    The book, The Earthen Vessel, is a product of my years of working in the nursing profession and answering many questions about the body.  It was my desire to give all people, no matter their scientific knowledge, an easy-to-read book to learn about their bodies.  With the guiding of The Holy Spirit, the Earthen Vessel has become a beautiful tool for learning about God’s magnificent masterpiece, the human body, and with this knowledge, to grow in the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Creator and Savior.
